AGM and help needed

The AGM is on Monday 6th November at 7.30pm at The Park Club. We will be discussing the situation that the Society finds itself in and need all members and friends of the Players to attend if possible. As you know, we are performing a Panto for the first time in 4 years in January, but need lots of help with the production. Most urgently, we need a prompt, who can attend rehearsals to help those on stage with their lines. Angela is trying to prompt and direct and she can’t do both effectively. If you can help, please let us know.

Trowbridge Players need Help!

Hello All,

You will have notice that we have not been doing a great deal since lockdown. We have performed one play and an evening of One-Acts at Steeple Ashton Village Hall and Trowbridge Town Hall. If you don’t know, we had our main venue The Arc Theatre withdrawn from Amateur groups as a cost cutting measure by Wiltshire College and have been looking for suitable venues to perform in ever since. Now the Town Hall is closing for a couple of years the choice of venues in Trowbridge will become even slimmer. In the meantime, our funds have dwindled as we have been paying out for Costume and Scenery stores with very little income coming in. If we don’t bring some funds in then I’m afraid that Trowbridge Players will be no more in the space of a few months.

There is one thing that can save us – Panto.

Our last panto was Aladdin back in January 2020 – just before Corona Virus arrived. So, we are planning to perform a Pantomime at The Civic Centre in January 2024. We will not be putting on an Autumn production so we can concentrate on Panto.

We are planning 4 performances: – Friday PM, Saturday Matinee, Saturday PM and Sunday Matinee.

Angela has offered to direct but we need several more things. So, we have a venue and a director but require a Script, a cast and a team. We need everyone who is interested in saving the society to come together to help. We will need singers, dancers, actors – but also backstage crew, front of house people, costumes, choreographer and many other forms of help. We also need a show co-ordinator, who can organise rehearsals, emails to cast etc so Angela can concentrate on the Panto itself.

We will be reading scripts for the next few Mondays at The Park Club.

So, we are calling out to all members and friends of the society, past and present, to help keep us going. We have been in existence since 1969 and I hope that we have many more years to run.

Please reply to Trowbridge_Players@hotmail.com to let us know that you care and will support the society in our hour of need. We need all of your help to make this a success.

Kind Regards,

Tim Knott – Chairman
